By default, Google Play™   lets you know when an update is available and downloads it automatically when you're connected on WiFi. However, some updates can require a confirmation from you to be downloaded.  

You will receive a notification in the notifications bar to inform you when updates are available or required. You can also see the list of available updates in Google Play > My apps
